DRAWING FUNDAMENTALS WORKSHOP
Drawing depicts the essence of art and is a fundamental skill for any creative. In this workshop discover the principals and elements of design, aesthetics and techniques to apply to any subject across a range of drawing mediums. Learn to apply proportion and scale, both that deal with with size and the relationship of subjects within a work of art. Understand the significance of accurate or manipulated proportion and consider different perspectives. Explore the basic concepts of depth, the history of exaggeration and geometric methods that are particularly useful for figurative drawing. Recognise positive and negative space, how it can help you approach a subject, why it is the defining factor in the creation of boundaries and how it determines the overall composition and framing. Identify the importance of harmony and learn to break down any form (no matter how complex) into basic shapes. Working from small studies to larger, sustained drawings practise the foundations of tonal and line work. This workshop offers the opportunity to develop your personal visual language and gain the confidence to make your own creative choices.
